All That Exists, Is Right Now

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying; “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift… that’s why they call it the present.”

I would like to dive a little deeper into this, because although it seems fairly simple and straightforward, there is such a deeper meaning and importance to this realization.

What it All Means

Like the title says, all that exists is right now.  It is always right now, and it always will be. We are forever living in the present moment.

When we tend to dwell on the past this can cause depression because we think about what could have been. We think of all the things we should have done differently and think of all the missed opportunities.

On the flip side, when you are always thinking about the future and thinking about what could happen, this can cause anxiety.

One of the biggest changes you can make in your life is to become fully present.

How to Become Present

There are two simple tricks I use to bring myself to the present moment.

First, I just tell myself to Be Here Now. We tend to get stuck in our heads and think about the past and future instead of just focusing on what is right in front of us. When you tell yourself to Be Here Now, you can enter the flow of the universe.

The second thing I do is I ask myself, “what at this moment is lacking?” You aren’t necessarily looking for an answer when you ask yourself this question. What you are doing is realizing that there is nothing lacking in the present moment. You are alive and have everything you need.

Without fail, every time I ask myself this question and I can feel my shoulders relax and my jaw unclench, and I just fall into a feeling of pure bliss and acceptance.

The Problems We Face

We are living in a world full of distractions and expectations. With the emergence of social media and technology as a whole, we are now more connected than ever. But we face a huge problem which is the fact that most people are faking their lives online and we are just distracting ourselves to try to hide from our unhappiness.

People tend to only post their best moments on social media. They choose the pictures that they look the best in and play along with this whole façade of fake happiness.

Instead of finding true happiness within, we are looking to impress others and fit in as much as possible to feel accepted. But all these societal standards and expectations are terrible for our mental health.

Why You Need to be More Present

Everything in this universe is in a flow. Humans are unique because we have a special awareness within us that allows us to contemplate things and make decisions. This awareness is both a blessing and a curse.

I believe that at least 95% of us are not living in the present moment and this is why there is so much unhappiness in this world.

We are all unique and we were all put on this planet for a reason. We all have our own special quirks and talents. But we are living in a society where we are being conditioned to be like everyone else and just follow the rules.

We are forced to go to school for at least 18 years and then find a job to work for the majority of our life and just survive, buy things we don’t need and pay bills.

I can guarantee that most people don’t truly enjoy their jobs, but the sad truth is, work takes up almost your whole entire life. Even when you’re not at work you’re tired from work so you don’t want to do anything.

How to Find Your Happiness

I can confidently say that I believe the secret to happiness is to stop distracting yourself and get out of your head and become present.

Meditation is the single most effective tool in which to do this. Here is a simple way to meditate for beginners.

We need to stop comparing our lives to other people and find what truly makes us happy and find our true purpose.

You are not tired from doing too much. You are tired from doing too little of what sparks a light inside of you.

When you are able to become fully present you enter the flow of the universe. You can find your true self and find your purpose in life. Now this won’t happen over night but even if you just practice for 5 minutes a day it can change your life so much.

We are conditioned so much in this weird world we live in, so we tend to lose touch with our real selves.

We were not born to pay bills and die. I can guarantee just about ever single one of you reading this has had that feeling inside of them that there is so much more to life. To find this you need to become present and enjoy this gift called life.

Why I Don’t Smoke Weed

I don’t smoke weed ’cause it make me shh-noid – 21 Savage

There are a couple of reasons why I refuse to smoke weed. I haven’t touched marijuana in years. But, I haven’t always been against it.

I used to smoke when I was younger. I enjoyed it when I was young and dumb because I had no responsibilties.

I could just get high with my friends and chill; eat some junk food and watch weird videos.

It was actually quite enjoyable back then.

But as I got older I started despising it.

The first reason is because of how lazy it made me.

Unproductive

I know it sounds very cliche, but I stopped smoking mostly because of how lazy it made me.

I never got anything done because I just wanted to sit around and watch movies and chill.

It also just led to very bad habits.

I would always just eat a bunch of junk food. I loved eating candy and chips when I was high.

But one bad habit led to another. Soon I would be too lazy to workout. Would be too lazy to do school work. And so on.

Using it as a Crutch

Another thing I realized is people like using it as an excuse.

“Sorry bro, I was too high”

“Idk man, I’m just high lol”

“I’m way too high for this”

Being high was an excuse for avoiding responsibility.

Instead of taking responsibility for your bad habits you just blame it on the weed.

People like to just use it as an excuse for being lazy. People don’t like knowing they are in control of their life, and that their happiness relies solely on their actions.

Instead they like to blame external forces for their problems; and being high is a great excuse for avoiding anything.

Escaping Reality

When you use it as a crutch for so long, you begin to become unsatisfied with your life.

You have been avoiding responsibility for so long that you get nothing productive done.

So then you use weed to escape reality. You don’t want to face your problems. You’d rather just get high and have an excuse for not getting anything done.

You’d rather get stoned and watch a movie and eat junk instead of finishing your homework and going to the gym.

Now you have a “valid” excuse. You’re just way too high bro.

Paranoid

The final reason is a factor caused by all the other reasons.

Smoking weed just makes me super paranoid and anxious now.

I haven’t done it in years, but the last few times I did, I was just super uncomfortable.

I could literally just feel it dumb down my brain.

I realized how lazy and unproductive I was being. I realized how stupid I looked and felt, and it would give me super bad anxiety.

Conclusion

I don’t think weed is a bad thing. It has a lot of benefits.

But just like anything, if you use it too much or you use it for the wrong things, it can have a lot of negative effects on your life.

I personally despise it and it is not for me.

If you feel the same way but aren’t able to stop, hit me up. I will give you some advice.

Stay lit.

-There are so many negative effects of alcohol; I’m not even going to bother listing them all because it’s pretty obvious.

-I think one of the worst ones is it promotes bad behavior and bad eating habits. You give no fucks when you’re drunk and this has very negative long term effects on you.

-You wake up the next day feeling like shit. So now you’ve wasted two days instead of one. You created a habit of bad behaviors and you’re unhappy so to escape the unhappiness you get drunk again and blame your faults on the alcohol.

10) Spend Less time on Social Media

-Social media is very toxic unless you use it in the right way which most people do not.

Instead, go do something more useful with your time rather than scrolling mindlessly and feeling bad about your life.

11) Stop watching the News

-The news is full of negativity and is used to indict fear. Once they make you fearful they lower your vibration and control you. You will never get anything useful from the news. Most of it is bullshit.

-If you just focus on yourself and work on improving your life, none of that shit in the news matters. Worry about your own life and your own happiness.
