Why You Need To Leave Your Hometown

There’s an old quote that goes like this: A shark in a fish tank will only grow to 8 inches, whereas a shark in the ocean can grow 8 feet or more. The shark will never outgrow its environment. The same goes for You. You cannot outgrow the environment that raised you. If you are around small-talking people you won’t grow. Change your environment, and watch how much you can grow.

My Experience

Two years ago, I dropped everything, and moved across the country by myself. I am from a small town in Michigan, and like the shark, I could not outgrow my environment. I woke up one day and realized I was not happy. I could not truly be who I wanted to be. So I packed all of my things, and moved to Arizona.

To some it seemed really crazy because I was going in to my senior year of college in Michigan and I just decided to leave and transfer to Arizona State University.

For most people this would sound terrifying. I didn’t plan anything and I didn’t even have a place to stay in Arizona.

But to me, I never felt so alive. It was a 30 hour car ride, and I usually hate car rides, but this one was special. I felt so free and alive for the first time in my life.

Why You Should Leave

Leaving your hometown is a fresh start. And damn it feels good. When staying in your hometown, you are staying in your comfort zone. The comfort zone destroys your life and kills are your dreams. You can read more about that here.

Moving away allows you to truly be yourself. Not the person everyone wants and expects you to be.

Starting somewhere new gives you so many new perspectives. At home you only know one perspective. I am from a super small, simple-minded town. Where everyone just does the same thing.

Work all week at a lousy job and then go to the same bars every weekend and hear the same stories over and over again.

To me that is not fun at all. There is soooooo much more to life.

Moving away gives you an opportunity to become your true self and do the things you have always wanted to, but were too scared to because you didn’t want to be judged.

The one thing I learned is your home should be within yourself. You need to feel at home with yourself before you can be happy. And if you’re stuck in a routine of doing the same thing over and over again, and doing what everyone else does, you will not be able to find your true self.

Conclusion

Leave your hometown. You will be confronted with fear when thinking about starting fresh. But you need to realize fear is just an emotion. Fear stops us from achieving most things in life. But you will realize once you take this first step of leaving your comfort zone, overcoming fear is a beautiful thing and it allows you to grow so much and chase your dreams.

If you are unhappy it is because you are not living out your true purpose. And being confined to a stagnant environment is stunting your growth.

Moving across the country was the best decision I have ever made in life. It made me step out of my comfort zone and confront fear head on. Ever since then, I am allowed to follow any dream I want without the fear of being judged or ridiculed. I am my true self and I have never been happier.

Being Comfortable is Destroying Your Life

Being comfortable sounds good and all, but honestly it is doing way more harm than good. Being stuck in your comfort zone has a lot of negative consequences.

Your comfort zone consists of what is safe and easy. It is the thing you do over and over again, and it feels safe because you know the outcome. Although this may sound good, it is holding you back. Without taking risks you will never be able to follow your dreams and become who you are supposed to be.

When you take risks and get out of your comfort zone you can learn who you truly are. You learn what keeps you going. When in the comfort zone, you are just on autopilot, you are being controlled by your subconscious mind. You are like a programmed computer just repeating everything. And this is not your true self.

When you branch out and remove yourself from this monotony you are now conscious of your decisions. You are acting through your true self. You are now able to access all of the knowledge and power you were unaware of.

When acting through your true self, you can now grow and change, new doors will open. Doors you never had access to whilst in your comfort zone.

Being comfortable causes you to become complacent and bored. Although you feel safe, you know you’re not reaching your full potential. You will become less and less satisfied with your life.

Being content makes you lose what makes you unique.

We are all on this planet for a reason. We all have our own individual talents and skills. But if you get into a routine that doesn’t allow you to grow and change, your uniqueness disappears. You just become another sheep. You just conform to the social norms and you become a nobody.

The Unknown

The unknown is such a beautiful place. You can discover so much about the world and so much about yourself. When in your comfort zone you may have dreams and hopes, but if you never switch up your routine to chase those dreams, the dreams die.

If you take a step into the unknown, you are your true self and you can begin to create the life you have always dreamed of.

The Solution

Step out of your comfort zone. Get out of your same old routine. Stop being scared to live the life you want. And most importantly, if you still live in your hometown and you’re dissatisfied, you need to leave.

Knowledge Is Not Power

My whole life I have just loved learning. I love to read books, watch YouTube videos and watch documentaries.

I have always believed the old cliché saying that knowledge is power. Although knowledge itself is very useful and good to have, I no longer believe that knowledge is power.

There was a 10 month span last year where I read one book every day. I learned a lot and I felt myself become smarter and my vocabulary increased, but there was something missing.

And then I read a book in which the author said something important. He claimed that knowledge is not power, the application of knowledge is power.

In that moment it clicked, and I realized what I was missing. I was reading all of these self-help books. I have read over a hundred self-help books and I did see some improvements in my life. But it wasn’t until I started applying this knowledge to my life that I started seeing huge breakthroughs.

Breaking Old Habits

I have a bad habit of wanting to finish books as fast as possible. I don’t know why but I always see it as a race. I just felt very accomplished finishing a book and I always believed that the goal was to read as much as possible. But then I started reading books more slowly and writing down useful information. I even started re-reading chapters and re-reading books until the information was burned into my brain and I actually fully understood what the author was saying.

I kept a journal with all of this useful information from all these books and I would read all of this information every day and I started applying it to my life.

In a previous post I talked about how you become what you think. You can see that post here.

I applied this belief to my life, and I would constantly read all of this information in my free time until I reprogrammed my subconscious mind.

I made it so I was always thinking about my goals and always thinking about wealth and success.

I no longer just stored all of this information in the back of my head. I was actually using this knowledge and applying it to my life every day.

Nowadays, I can learn way more from reading one book a week and taking notes, rather than reading one book every day and finishing it as fast as possible and then immediately moving on to the next one.

Ever since I started applying knowledge to my life instead of just gathering as much knowledge as possible, I have seen so many more improvements and breakthroughs in my life.

All of the information in books is utterly useless unless you put it in to action. Gathering all of this information in your head without using it is like acquiring as much money as possible but never using it. It’s just pointless pieces of paper at that point.

This life is all about action and experience. Taking action is the only way to grow.

This is why I no longer believe that knowledge is power; The application of knowledge is power.

The Strangest Secret to Success

Recently I read a book by Earl Nightingale called The Strangest Secret. Nightingale is basically the successor to Napoleon Hill when it comes to Self Help books. If you don’t know who Napoleon Hill is, you definitely need to check out his book Think and Grow Rich. It is one of the best books out there if you want to become successful.

The Strangest Secret was a very short book, but it was full of very useful information. I am going to summarize that book for you and let you in on this Secret to a successful life.

Introduction

Nightingale starts off by saying only about 5% of the people in this world actually think. The other 95% just drift along in life and are on autopilot by only using their subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is that which is conditioned and programmed. When you do not think for yourself, you tend to just follow what everyone else is doing. You just live the life that is expected of you.

The 5% that actually think, are the ones who become successful. Nightingale’s definition of success is; “the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.” Basically meaning, these people think of what they want their life to be, and they follow that idea.

To follow one’s goals and dreams you need to have courage. The opposite of courage is conformity. And that is the biggest problem that most of society faces. They are scared of being judged, they are scared of being different, so they just conform and follow what everyone else is doing.

Nightingale then goes on to say, the people who become successful are those who say, “I am going to become this,” and then they begin to work towards that goal.

Success isn’t just about making the most money. Success is making goals and following them. A successful person can be a school teacher who had a goal to become a teacher and pursued and accomplished that goal. That is all success is. The problem is most people don’t even know what they’re striving for. They say that they want to be successful but they couldn’t even define success if they wanted to. This is because they do not have any goals in life.

You can be the hardest worker, but if you have no goal in mind, you will never truly succeed.

The Key to Success

The Strangest Secret, that determines one’s success or failure, according to Earl Nightingale is this:

You Become What You Think About

If someone is working towards a predetermined goal, and they know where they are going, that person is a success.

If you want to be rich, you will be rich.

If you think in positive terms, you will get positive results.

If you Believe, you will Succeed.

The Problem

The biggest roadblocks we face on our road to success is Doubt.

“Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt” -William Shakespeare.

Each of us wants something. But each of us is afraid of something.

To be successful you must be willing to pay the price.

“A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.”

The goal is to realize you are guided by your mind and your thoughts.

To have success you must plant your goal in your mind. Care for it. Work towards that goal, and it will become your reality.

Your subconscious mind is just a sponge that absorbs all of the information and thoughts that you feed it. Your mind does not care what seeds you plant. All your mind does is it just returns what you plant.

You Reap What You Sow.

Why We Overlook Our Minds

The mind is free. And us humans tend to give little value to things that are free. We take it for granted. Whereas things we pay money for we tend to give a lot of value to.

But little do we know the mind is the most powerful tool in the universe.

The harsh truth is we are where we are because that is where we want to be or where we feel we deserve to be.

Although it may not seem like you are where you want to be in life, this is what you have told your subconscious mind. Like I said earlier your subconscious mind is a sponge that absorbs all of your thoughts. So, through years of conditioning and programming and endless negative thoughts we have created this life for ourselves.

Your outer world is just a reflection of your inner world.

If we grew up in poverty and have always been told that we are not good enough to be rich, our subconscious mind truly believes that, and it creates a reality that matches those inner thoughts.

I know in my experience I grew up listening to my parents always talking about lack of money. So that idea was programmed into my brain.

I have had so many opportunities in my life to be rich and successful, but I always turned it down because I was programmed to believe that I was supposed to be poor. My inner self believes that I do not deserve to be wealthy and successful.

How to Use This Secret to Success

  1. You must realize that you become what you think about and you must learn to control your thoughts
  2. You must realize that all of your limitations are self-imposed. The conditioning of your subconscious mind is what is holding you back.
  3. You must use your courage to think positively. Set clear and defined goals for yourself and pursue those goals every day.
  4. Take action. Ideas are worthless unless we act on them. Goals without a plan are just dreams.

30 Day Challenge

Nightingale then provided a 30-day challenge to put this secret of success to the test.

  1. Write down what you want
    • Make it a single goal that is clearly defined
    • Think of this goal in a calm, cheerful and positive manner
    • Think about it all throughout the day (you become what you think about)
    • Form a habit of thinking about this thing
  2. Stop thinking about your fears
    • Don’t spend time thinking about how you will achieve your goal
    • The answers will come to you at the right time
    • Just focus on what you want

Ask and it shall be given to you

Seek and Ye shall find

Everyone that Asketh Receiveth

Conclusion

All you really need to succeed is a purpose and faith.

You must act as though it is impossible to fail.

If your goal is to earn more money you need to realize that the only way to earn money is by providing services or products which are needed or useful. We exchange our time for money.

Your financial return is directly linked to the services you provide.

But remember that success is not about making money.

Earning Money is the Result of Success.

No person can be rich until they first enrich themselves.

And to do this you must Think and stop being controlled by your subconscious mind.

You become what you think about. And that my friends, is the Strangest Secret to Success.

Law Of Attraction-Acorn Example

Recently I read a book by Bob Proctor called You Were Born Rich. It’s a very good book that talks about how when we are born our minds are a clean slate. We have a direct connection with the universe.

But over time through traumas and certain conditioning we tend to lose that connection.  We tend to believe we aren’t worthy of rich and successful lives. We tend to get distracted by the material/physical world.

But anyways, in this book he talks about the Law of Attraction. If you don’t know this term by now you should look it up because it truly does dictate your whole life. I will also be making more posts about this universal law in the future.

But in this post I just wanted to elaborate on his example of the Law of Attraction in nature. In this example he talks about an acorn.

The Acorn Example

What’s weird is I’ve always been very intrigued by the idea that a tiny little acorn can turn into a huge oak tree. It never really made sense to me how such a tiny thing can just turn in to a much bigger thing out of nowhere.

An acorn basically has a predetermined pattern programmed in to it. Once the acorn is in the dirt it begins to attract everything it needs to grow in to a oak tree.

The acorn is set to a certain vibration/frequency of growing. It’s programmed to become an oak tree. Therefore it attracts everything it needs to grow; such as water, sunlight, nutrients, minerals, etc.

The acorn is always what it will become. It just needs time to grow. And it will attract everything that it needs to grow in to an oak tree.

The acorn also repels all of the energy that is not tuned in to its vibration of growing.

The same goes for humans. If you can learn how the Law of Attraction works you can manifest anything you want. The goal is to be in the frequency of what you’re seeking.

Everything in the world is energy. Everything operates at a certain frequency. It’s basically like a radio where each frequency is a different station that has different information. If you want something in your life such as more money, a better job, a new vehicle, etc. you need to act as if you already have it. You need to be tuned in to the frequency of what you want.

If you only focus on the things in which you lack, you will  begin to attract more of the things that you lack. If you lack money and you’re always thinking about how you are broke, you are operating on a frequency of poorness and you will only attract things that will make you feel poor. More bills will appear, you’ll get a flat tire or something that makes you spend more money and become even poorer.

The goal of this human life is to raise your vibration as high as possible. So to do this you need to be consuming things with a high vibration.

I will get in to this more in a later blog post.

I just thought this was a very interesting example and it helps us understand the Law of Attraction a bit more.

The Biggest Key to Success

We are in a time where we are surrounded with something called instant gratification. With the advancements of technology and society as a whole, things are so much easier to obtain. If you need to find out some information you can just Google it in a couple seconds.

With all this instant gratification we tend to condition ourselves to believe that fulfilling things are very easy to obtain. This makes it a lot harder for us to work and strive for a goal.

If we don’t see instant results we immediately get discouraged. For example, most people want to be in better shape, so they want to start exercising more and eating healthier. But after working out once, there’s not many noticeable differences so we try to find something easier like some miracle pill that burns fat.

My Experience

I have always been that person that is naturally smart, and things tend to be a lot easier for me. I was that kid that everyone hated because I didn’t need to study for tests, and I would still get an A.

I could just pick anything up and be instantly good at it. This talent of mine is a blessing and a curse. Since most things are super easy for me, it’s hard for me to work at something that takes a lot of practice and hard work. For example, I’ve always wanted to know how to play the piano and guitar. But if I wasn’t instantly a master after 10 minutes, I’d get very discouraged and just give up. But a lot of things in life take a shit ton of time and practice to master.

The Biggest Key to Success

I believe the biggest key to success is consistency. The universe rewards consistency so much. But like I said it’s very hard nowadays with all of this instant gratification. But if you keep on grinding and you don’t give up on your dream you will make your breakthrough someday.

When I started this blog, I was only getting 10-50 views a day. I got very discouraged at first and kept giving up. Instead of just working and grinding, I spent my time looking up ways to reach more viewers. Instead of just writing blog posts and improving my blog as a whole, I was searching for the easy way out.

I would look at all of these other blogs and see how many views they got, and I would feel bad for myself.

But the most important thing I’ve learned throughout this process is, DO NOT COMPARE YOUR BEGINNING TO SOMEONE ELSE’S MIDDLE.

We all have to start somewhere.

You have to realize that all of these successful people worked their asses off to get where they are now. Success isn’t just handed to you; you have to work for it.

So, I decided to just focus on myself and focus on my own goal. Now I’m up to around 1,800 views a day, and it will only keep growing the more I work for it.

Conclusion

If you really want something in life, do not give up on it. Your day will come. Focus on yourself. Stop comparing yourself to other people.

All of these successful people you idolize are just normal people like you and me. The only difference is they know what they want, and they work their ass off for it.

When lying on your death bed you won’t be sitting there thinking about all of the things you regret doing. You will be thinking about all of the things you regret not doing. There will be so many “what ifs.” What if I just followed my dream. What if I just had the courage to ask that pretty girl out. And so on.

Do not be scared of failure. Failure is just a way of showing you that you’re either not ready yet, or that the method you’re using isn’t the right one. Just because you don’t succeed on the first try doesn’t mean you’re a failure. You’ll get it right eventually; you just have to keep trying.

Find your purpose. Ask yourself what you are passionate about. We all have our special talents. Do that thing every day and master it.

Just because you’re not a pro at first doesn’t mean you should give up. The universe rewards consistency. And most importantly, stop comparing yourself to other people. Be your own role model.

The Difference between Your and You’re

I don’t know why it bugs me so much, but whenever I see the words “your” and “you’re” being used incorrectly I get very bothered. So, I am here to help explain the difference so you can learn when to use each one.

When to use Your

The word “your” represents possession.

It is your book.

It is your car.

It is your life, etc.

When to use You’re

Whereas the word “you’re” is just short for “you are.”

You’re a nice person.

You’re welcome.

I’m assuming the confusion comes from the apostrophe in “You’re”. Because usually an apostrophe represents possession. For example, the apostrophe in this sentence shows possession; The dog’s toy.

But for the word “you’re” it is just a contraction of the words “you are,” the apostrophe is not showing possession.

How to Remember the Difference

The easiest way to remember is to just realize that “you’re” means you are. So, when deciding which one to use, ask yourself if it is showing possession, or if it’s short for you are.

The biggest mistake I see all the time is people saying, “your welcome.” But this doesn’t make sense. It should be “You’re Welcome,” because you are saying “You are welcome.”

Another commonly misused homophone is there, their and they’re. Find out the difference here.

The Difference Between There, Their and They’re

When people use there, they’re and their wrong I get pretty triggered. So hopefully this explanation will help you learn the difference so you can start using the correct one.

When to use There

There is basically the opposite of here. There refers to a location or it simply means in or at that place.

It is over there.

The car is over there.

The book is over there.

There it is.

And so on.

When to use They’re

They’re is just a contraction of they are.

They’re hungry.

They’re very angry.

And so on.

When to use Their

Their is the possessive form of they. Therefore, it simply means, “belonging to them.”

It is their book.

It is their house.

It is their vehicle.

And so on.

I think people get confused with the apostrophe in you’re and they’re because usually an apostrophe shows possession. So, people mix up they’re and their, but their shows possession and they’re is just short for they are.

How to Remember Which One to Use

The best way to remember is to realize the word there has the word here in it. Because there is the opposite of here, therefore it represents location.

Whereas they’re is just short for they are so when trying to decide which form to use ask yourself if it is short for they are. And if it showing possession, meaning if it belongs to someone, use the word their.

Another commonly misused homophone is your and you’re. Find out the difference here.

Why it is Okay to be Selfish

The word selfish tends to have a very negative connotation attached to it. The actual definition of the word selfish is someone lacking consideration for others and who is concerned with only one’s own profit or pleasure.

But I believe it is more than okay to be selfish…to an extent.

When Is It Okay to be Selfish?

It is okay to be selfish when you are benefiting, as long as no one else is truly suffering from your actions.

We all need to take time to be selfish and work on ourselves. We all need to worry about our own lives and work on becoming the best version of ourselves. You need to be at your best so you can truly help others and help this world as a whole.

You cannot give someone $100 if you only have $20.

What exactly do I mean by this? If you don’t have your shit figured out and you’re struggling and you’re only at about 20% of your true potential, then you can’t give someone your all. You cannot give love if you do not truly love yourself. You cannot give someone worthy life advice if you do not have your own life figured out.

The Solution

Take some time to work on yourself. Take some time to find your true self. Stop wasting all your time working a lousy job. Stop scrolling on social media and comparing your boring life to others.

Work. On. Your. Self.

Be selfish. Take a break from hanging with friends and wasting your time. Take a break from nights out at the bar. Take a break from social media and technology as a whole.

My Best Advice

The best advice I have ever received and the best advice I can give to you right now is; Be the change you want to see in the world.

We all tend to look at all this bad shit going on in the world and get mad at others. We blame others and we wish we could just change everything. But to change the world, you must first change yourself.

If everyone just worked on themselves and became the best versions of themselves all of the world’s problems would disappear.

If you want the world to change, be that change. Lead by example and people will follow when they see how happy and successful you are.

Conclusion

Be selfish. Take some time to work on yourself. It is okay to turn your friends down and it is okay to put things off and take some time for yourself. Because once you better yourself, and find your true self, you can return back to the world, return back to your family friends and everyone will benefit from this better version of yourself. Your happiness and energy will spread, and people will see how much better you are, and they will be inclined to do this for themselves.

Start eating healthier. Stop putting off going to the gym; just 15 minutes of exercise a day can change your life so much. Start reading more books. Spend less time on social media. Drink more water. Meditate. Do whatever it takes to become the best version of yourself.

About a year ago I gave myself a One Month Personal Challenge. It included 6 simple daily tasks that absolutely changed my life for the better. You can see these 6 things right here.

One Last Bit of Advice

One thing that really helps me stay on track throughout the day is I ask myself before I do something, “Will this help me become the best version of myself?”

If not, don’t do it. Do something that will improve your life for the better.

The 6 Things That Absolutely Changed My Life

About a year ago I gave myself a One Month Personal Challenge. I wrote down 6 things that I wanted to do each day that I knew would help me become the best version of myself and just improve my life as a whole.

It started out as just a one-month challenge. But once I started doing it, I couldn’t stop. I started seeing all the amazing benefits, and my life improved so much that I ended up doing it for about a year straight.

You can see that list below:

So why did I choose these 6 things?

Drinking One Gallon of Water Everyday

This one should be quite self-explanatory. There are so many benefits that come from drinking more water. Your body is about 60% water, and when you don’t get enough your body suffers.

I could go on and on with the benefits, but I think this one doesn’t need much explaining.

You don’t necessarily need to drink a whole gallon of water every day, but you should try to drink at least double the amount that you currently do. I chose a gallon for myself because it gets pretty hot here in Arizona and I am a pretty active person. I would say to aim for at least 64 oz of water a day. You will be amazed at all of the benefits that come with it.

You should also try to cut out other liquids such as soda, energy drinks, coffee, etc. These drinks are full of sugar and can actually dehydrate you.

Taking Cold Showers Everyday

I know most of you will hate this one. I still struggle with getting myself to take cold showers because hot showers just feel so damn good.

Although there are a lot of proven health benefits that come along with cold showers, this is not why I chose to do this.

The reason I chose to challenge myself with taking cold showers every day is to increase my willpower.

What do I mean by this? If you can get yourself to take a cold shower in the morning this will start your day off so well. When you take a hot shower first thing in the morning you are doing something that gives you comfort and pleasure. It tends to relax you.

But if you were to force yourself to take a cold shower, you will do something you didn’t really want to do and this will allow you to do more things that are good for you throughout the day that you don’t really feel like doing.

For me, when I take a cold shower in the morning, I am more alert and energetic. I am proud of myself that I forced myself to do this unwanted thing and then this persuades me to eat a healthier breakfast and go to the gym. I put myself on this wave of doing things that benefit me. I allow myself to have the willpower to do what is best for my life.

A little pro tip; if you can’t get yourself to just hop in to a cold shower, start it off a little warm, get in, and slowly decrease the temperature throughout the shower.

Eating A Plant-Based Vegan Diet

This one-month challenge is one of the things that actually started me on this whole vegan/plant-based journey. And to be honest this was the best choice I ever made.

I know most of you hate hearing about all this vegan talk so I’m going to keep this one short. For those of you who are interested in this one, I have a lot of other posts about this diet and lifestyle.

Food/diet is the most important thing in one’s life. You truly are what you eat. Once I cut out animal products and processed food in general, my health and life absolutely skyrocketed. My energy levels were through the roof and I have felt so amazing ever since.

If you don’t want to go vegan, at least try to incorporate more plant-based foods in your diet. Eat more natural, whole foods and cut out processed foods as much as possible. You will be blown away by how much better you feel.

Meditate for At Least 30 minutes a Day

I talk about meditation a lot and I’m sure all of you keep hearing this word. Meditation is a very broad term, and there are a lot of different ways to meditate.

But honestly meditation is one of the best things you can possibly do to improve your life.

We tend to get stuck in our minds. We overthink and over analyze everything and create so many problems in our heads that don’t actually exist in the real world.

Meditation is the key to releasing all of these problems and calming your mind and it allows you to find your true self.

I like to look up guided meditations on YouTube or use apps such as Headspace. Just start out slow. Even 5 minutes a day can change your life drastically.

Exercise Daily

This is another one that is pretty self-explanatory. Exercising daily improves your life immensely.

I could talk about all of the benefits, but instead I will talk about how to motivate yourself.

Convincing yourself to exercise is the hardest part of exercising. But once you’re at the gym or wherever you work out, it’s pretty easy to get into the groove of things.

The one thing that helps me is I don’t tell myself “I have to work out,” instead I tell myself “I get to work out.” By this, I mean I think about all of the people who are disabled or simply just aren’t allowed to do active things. This allows me to have appreciation of my life and my body and I motivate myself by thinking about how grateful I am to have an opportunity to improve myself.

**A lot of people are scared to work out because they are embarrassed and are scared of being judged. But you have to remember that we all have to start somewhere. Don’t compare yourself to the guy with big muscles or the fit girl with the rocking body. Those people started out skinny or overweight as well.**

Remind yourself that you will NEVER have your dream body if you don’t start working on it. The best time to start is RIGHT NOW.

Do Not Compare Your Beginning to Someone Else’s Ending. We All Have to Start Somewhere

No Fap

The last thing on my list is No Fap. For those who aren’t familiar with this term it just simply means no masturbation.

Time to get a little personal here. I went a full year without masturbation or sex. To some of you this may sound crazy or sad or whatever. But honestly it improved my life so much. My energy levels were out the roof and my confidence and willpower were all improved immensely.

Masturbation, but more importantly porn, is very toxic. When watching pornography, you set standards in your mind and this can be very detrimental to your life. Pornography has a lot of other negative effects on your life but I won’t get in to that here.

I got the inspiration for No Fap from a YouTube video I watched awhile back. I don’t recall the name of the video but I do remember a very important thing that was stated.

He said how when you achieve something, you get a dose of dopamine. And for men our two instincts are to survive and procreate. Since our goal is to survive to procreate then we are very attracted to the idea of having sex with women and this act releases a lot of dopamine. But when we just watch porn and masturbate, we get that release of dopamine and it just seems so achievable and we trick our brain into thinking that something this ecstatic is very easy to achieve. So soon our brain is tricked in to thinking that very fulfilling things are very easy to achieve. So then we believe we have to use no effort to achieve things. This causes us to be lazy and take shortcuts.

So, when you undergo no fap you train your brain to see that these things are not easily obtainable and we actually have to work for fulfilling things. And this allows you to have more energy and motivation to achieve these things.

So basically when you cut out porn and masturbation, you cut out this very toxic form of euphoria. You train yourself to have to work harder to achieve things that feel good.

Conclusion

This challenge I presented myself changed my life for the better. These are just 6 basic things. There was a lot of other things I was doing as well. If you want to go on this journey of self-care and self-improvement I suggest making your own list of challenges. Try it for one week, one month or whatever. I promise you will see amazing benefits and you will want to continue working on yourself and eventually you will become the best version of yourself.

Good luck, you got this.
